About Us
SWOTA has been teaching trauma skills to Orthopaedic residents at the University of New Mexico, Banner and Mayo in Phoenix, UNLV, U of A in Tucson, Texas Tech University at El Paso, Texas Tech University at Lubbock, The University of Arizona, and William Beaumont Army Medical Center. For the past several years we have successfully focused on the PGY 1 level.
The objective of this course is to teach PGY 1 residents surgical skills to treat fractures and to understand different techniques in achieving fracture stability. These motor skills will be combined with basic fracture management talks, principles, and exercises. This meeting is extremely helpful to the residency programs in teaching surgical skills in an efficient manner – in one place, at one time, and under appropriate guidance, supervision and evaluation based on required ABOS Resident Motor Skills Modules.
